INTRODUCTION:

St. Paul's Girls' School (SPGS) is located in Brook Green, Hammersmith. It was established in 1904 and has a long and impressive history of providing quality education. Attending the Open Day at St. Paul's Girls' School is a great chance for you and your daughter to explore the school's premises and meet some of the faculty, staff, and students. The event will feature a speech by the High Mistress, and current students will be your guides on a tour of the school.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

The deadline for school registration is in November of the year before admission. The registration cost of £250 must be submitted with the registration forms, which are available here.

There are two stages to the admissions procedure, including the exam. The Reasoning portion of the Stage 1 exam is taken online in November of the year before enrollment. Your daughter's results will be sent to you around the middle of December.

Those who pass will be required to take the Stage 2 exam, which is scheduled for early January. Your kid will be asked to come for a 15-minute interview in that same month if she does well.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES:

Applicants in Year 7 are eligible for Music Scholarships from SPGS based on their performance in an interview and audition. The expected grade is Grade 5 or above on the major instrument, and they are valued at £1680 annually. The candidate's academic aptitude as determined by the entrance exams will be taken into account. Exhibitions worth £840 a year may also be granted, at the Director of Music's discretion. Families in need of financial assistance can apply for means-tested bursaries. Depending on the extent of help needed, they might pay up to 100% of the costs. The school conducts a comprehensive evaluation procedure, including a home visit, to determine the worth of the bursary. The bursary will be awarded for the duration of your child's attendance at the school, contingent upon her behavior and academic performance.

EXAM FORMAT:

The following online exam makes up the Stage 1 St. Paul's Girls' School (SPGS) 11+ exam:

·       CEM SELECT

Verbal, non-verbal, and numerical abilities are evaluated via a series of quick online modules in the CEM Select online test. It takes one hour to finish the test. Note that although the school calls this test a "cognitive ability test," they are talking about CEM Select, not CAT4.

The following tests are part of the Stage 2 St. Paul's Girls' School (SPGS) 11+ examination:

·       English

·       Comprehension

Three 25-minute portions make up the mathematical paper, which is intended to discover potential. There are questions about pretty simple sums in the first section and questions about solving problems in the second section. Many times, the third section's multiple-choice questions are centered on content the girls may not be familiar with. They must display their workouts throughout the entire document.
For the English paper, students must closely examine a piece of creative writing and literary prose (comprehension). All questions will involve extracting information. Excellent grades will be awarded for deductive reasoning, linguistic sensitivity, and proof of a large vocabulary.

The purpose of the SPGS 11+ comprehension test is to assess understanding in its widest meaning. Deduction, inference, information extraction, organization, comparison, evaluation, pattern and connection detection, and logic are all talents that can be demonstrated through questions.
