INTRODUCTION:

In Surrey, St George's College is a Roman Catholic day school that is autonomous and co-educational; serving students ages 11 through 18. Along with encouraging each student to reach their full potential and establishing in them a common regard and tolerance for others, the school's unique Josephite traditions also foster a strong feeling of community. The two most recent Independent Schools Inspectorate inspections have emphasized St. George's College's exceptional pastoral care as a "notable feature of the school's success." When Year 7 students initially arrive at the school, small groups of them are paired with sixth-form students who serve as mentors to help them navigate the school's culture. Two chaplains also support parents, teachers, and students.

There are many chances for students to participate in a wide variety of activities. Every Year 7–9 student participates in two or more extracurricular activities every week, with choices including athletics, music, theatre, and the arts. Youngsters regularly receive Bronze and Gold Awards from the Duke of Edinburgh Award Program. At St George's College, exam scores are above average. In 2022, over 60% of A-level papers received an A*/A grade, and 58.4% of GCSE results were 9–8s, or A* and above. Nine students were accepted into medical programs, and Russell Group universities and Oxbridge are among the universities to which they aspire.

ADMISSION GUIDELINES:

Families can have a student-led tour of St. George's Weybridge during Open Mornings. The families meet the teaching staff and attend one of the Headmistress's talks during these occasions, which are usually conducted in April and September/October.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

An entrance exam is required at St. George's College, and it is administered in November of the year before enrollment. Admission is decided by several factors, such as whether the family adheres to the school's Christian, Catholic, and Josephite ethos; whether the applicant performed well on the entrance exam; whether the applicant's current school reports are favorable; whether the applicant attends an Open Morning; and whether the applicant's family may have ties to the college. Furthermore, consideration is granted to applicants whose brother or family member is presently enrolled in the junior school or has previously attended the institution. Boys and girls must be younger than 12 on September 1st of the entrance year to be eligible for entry. The entrance exam is administered in January and consists of online and paper components. Additionally, candidates must attend an interview with a senior staff member.

EXAM FORMAT:

Exam topics for the St. George's Weybridge 11+ include:

·    Assessment of Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning (CEM Select)

· An English essay that evaluates technical proficiency, comprehension, and extended writing

·      A Mathematics Test

CEM Select uses a series of quick online exercises to evaluate Reasoning ability.

The purpose of the English assignment is to assess your child's writing, reading, and comprehension abilities. It has both regular and multiple-choice questions, along with a technical, reading, and writing portion.

The purpose of the math test is to assess your child's problem-solving and math abilities.

PREPARATION AND TARGET TEST SCORES:

St George's College Weybridge requires a thorough approach to preparation for the 11+ exam that includes verbal and nonverbal reasoning, Math, and English. Students should acquaint themselves with the varied content of Key Stage 2 and beyond to provide a solid foundation. A comprehensive study plan that includes practice exams that closely resemble the real thing is essential for success since it gives kids confidence boosts and lets parents see results right away. It is essential to provide children with prompt guidance when they encounter difficult issues so they can feel confident in their understanding and grasp of the material.
