INTRODUCTION:

In Ascot, Berkshire, there is an independent day and boarding school called St George's School. Founded in 1877, it has trained notable members of the nobility and previous Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Operating on the slogan Vincent Qui Se Vincunt (They will conquer who overcome themselves), St George's is today an all-girls school.  Its curriculum spans a wide range of disciplines, increasing students' comprehension of the world as they gain from well-taught classes and an active teaching style. Along with many other pertinent academic areas, such as SMSC, the school's unique Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural education programs, offered are ICT, Classics, psychology, MFL, and sciences.

Every student in the cohort has access to clubs and co-curricular activities on campus, which enhances the diverse range of opportunities supporting their overall growth. In addition to a plethora of other options rooted in the school's attempts to support students' journeys of self-discovery effectively, girls may select from swimming, ballet, textiles, philosophy, Amnesty International, zumba, and Alpha Female.  The comprehensive and profound educational program at St George's guarantees that students graduate with a strong sense of self and happy memories. With a broad range of interests and excellent intellectual abilities, students approach the next phases of their study with strong academic confidence, taking on the challenge of exploring new concepts with tenacity and resolve.

ADMISSION GUIDELINES:

Every term, St George's hosts Open Mornings, which provides potential families the chance to come to see the campus, see everything it has to offer, and ask questions regarding the admissions procedure. Reservations for the events are made via the admissions staff. Several Taster Days are also held by the school for applicants who are 11+. Certain events, including Future Georgian Day, are exclusive to those who have successfully registered for a Year 7 spot.

Oversubscription Criteria:

There are no oversubscription criteria for the school.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

A £125 non-refundable registration fee must be paid by the deadline in October of Year 6. The following November, assessments are conducted, which include head interviews and academic testing.

St George's will request references from your daughter's current school as part of the application process. Please be aware that a deposit of £1,000 for day students and £2,000 for boarders will be required upon acceptance of a spot.

CATCHMENT AREA:

There is no defined catchment area.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES:

Scholarships and exhibitions are given out by the organization in many disciplines, comprising academia, sport, art, music, drama, swimming, and performing arts. Academic scholarships are given out based on exceptional achievement on entrance exams; portfolio reviews, interviews, and drawing tests are required for art awards. A pre-recorded audition, an interview, and attendance at a drama workshop are prerequisites for drama awards. The exhibits are worth five percent, and these scholarships carry a ten percent fee waiver.

The college offers means-tested bursaries in addition to scholarships to provide either full or partial financial aid with expenses. An impartial business (BAL) visits the home as part of the bursary evaluation procedure to gauge the financial situation of the household. Applicants for bursaries will receive notification of the results and their child's place offer at the same time. It's crucial to remember that bursaries are reviewed annually and could be removed if the family's financial status considerably improves.

EXAM FORMAT:

The following tests make up St. George's School's 11+ exam:

·       English Paper

·       Mathematics Paper

·       CEM Select (Online Test)

The English paper looks at writing abilities such as inference, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar, as well as comprehension. Excellent use of form, innovation, organization, coherence, and sentence structure will earn points.

Your child's arithmetic and problem-solving skills are evaluated on the math exam. There will be questions on geometry, algebra, statistics, numbers, and measuring in the test.

CEM Select is an online assessment tool designed to evaluate your child's verbal, nonverbal, and numerical reasoning abilities.

PREPARATION AND TARGET TEST SCORES:

A useful tool for getting ready for the St George's 11+ exam is a practice test. Your child will gain the ability to respond swiftly and confidently to a variety of 11+ exam question types by using our practice tests, which are formatted and designed to resemble real exams. There are many advantages for your child taking the test: it gives them concentrated practice and exposure to a broad range of scenarios and examples; it also identifies any areas where they are weak and need more preparation before the examination. We advise you to begin your revision early so that you will have the opportunity to determine which subjects require more attention. The practice exams are difficult, and getting ready for the 11 Plus might occasionally seem overwhelming. However after a well-thought-out revision strategy is put into action, students ought to find the process much easier to handle.
