INTRODUCTION:

Renowned for its inspirational and ambitious atmosphere, Emanuel is a vibrant co-ed day school where accomplishments in athletics, music, and theatre are combined with academic excellence. To help and inspire students to reach their objectives, the school's passionate and committed teachers are essential. A big part of Emanuel's upbeat, joyful, and high-achieving environment is the trustworthy relationships that exist between educators, students, and parents. Situated amidst benevolence and reciprocal regard, the school prioritizes an active and dynamic pedagogy, emphasizing extracurricular pursuits that foster students' self-assurance and enable them to establish extensive social networks. In addition to fostering empathy, respect, and a sense of personal fulfillment through outreach and charitable action, pastoral care goes beyond the walls of the classroom.

In 2022, Emanuel opened a brand-new sixth-form center that offers the oldest students a contemporary setting and unifies professional assistance with advice on careers, higher education, and pastoral care. New cricket nets, hard courts for tennis and netball, and all-weather hockey and tennis facilities are among the additional improvements planned for Raynes Park's off-site sports pitch in 2023. The long-term goals of the school's governing board include maintaining common areas and recreational areas, adding more specialized classrooms, and improving teaching and learning spaces—all of which are detailed in their critical build plan. Open events are a great way for potential visitors to have a personal look at Emanuel, a school that is proud of its rich history, consistent academic performance, and vibrant community.

ADMISSION GUIDELINES:

We at Emanuel encourage young people who aspire to work hard, seize the opportunities presented by school, and develop into contributing members of their communities to apply. A typical student at Emanuel is intelligent and diligent, but above all, they are considerate and friendly, making a positive impact on the school. We use our admissions procedure to determine whether each applicant would thrive in the school on an academic and personal level. We care about our students making the most of their time with us and benefiting as much as possible from the educational experience. Although academic prowess is important to us, we are equally drawn to those who excel in other areas.

Oversubscription Criteria:

The school receives more applications than it can accommodate, thus in the extremely improbable event that more applications are accepted than it can accommodate, preference for spots will be awarded based on the acceptance order for Year 7 admission. If this decision is made, all offer holders will be informed.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

The calendar for assessments for students applying for September 2025 entrance will be as indicated in the "key dates" on the school's official website. Though these interviews will take place after the official written evaluations and will rely on a student's success in the entrance examinations, we nevertheless intend to interview a significant portion of applicants—possibly more than many colleges.

Together with the interview, we've incorporated a group experience. The purpose of this is to provide the students with a chance to show off their inventiveness and their capacity for productive small-team cooperation. We hope that this part of the assessment process will be entertaining and enriching for the kids.

Students who perform well enough on the tests to be given a chance at an academic scholarship will go through a somewhat different interview procedure, which will also involve working in small groups. They will meet not only with a general interviewer but also with an English and Math department member.

CATCHMENT AREA:

The school does not have a catchment area.

EXAM FORMAT:

The following entrance examinations will be taken by all applicants:

  • Mathematics (1 Hour)
  • English (1 Hour)
  • Verbal Reasoning (30 Minutes)

PREPARATION AND TARGET TEST SCORES:

In addition to Mathematics and English examinations, the Year 6 and 7 entrance exam at Emanuel School includes a Verbal Reasoning test. On the school website, you can find sample papers for Mathematics and English, which can be used for exam preparation. Achieving the minimal pass mark in each area of the entrance exam is one of the many requirements for admission. Siblings and applicants who have received scholarships or who have proven their abilities in art, drama, music, or sports will be placed first, provided they reach the minimum published scores. Along with the candidate's school reference, the most recent school report, the results of the interview, which focused on the candidate's interests, attitude, and personal qualities as well as their potential contributions to the school community, are also taken into account in the evaluation. Additionally, the group experience is evaluated to gauge the candidate's creativity and teamwork. Furthermore, applicants need to be sponsored by the institution or have legal permission to reside and study in the United Kingdom.
